Abstract

As optical networks become more and more elastic to adapt to data traffic demands, knowing the health of the network is of key interest. We propose a monitoring intent framework to facilitate the development of control functions exploiting the monitored optical parameters. We then demonstrate an optical channel defragmentation control function deployed as an SDN application taking advantages of a centralized view of SDN controller to optimize the spectrum utilization.
