Abstract

We have extended the classical theory for the photorefractive wave mixings, by taking into consideration the spatial overlapping of the space-charge-field grating and the π/2-phase shifted dielectric permittivity grating during transients, to cover the situations in which strong electric fields are applied to crystals with large electro-optic coefficients. The extended model is demonstrated by using barium titanate (BaTiO3) as a specific material.
