MPEG-4 part 25: A generic model for 3D graphics compression

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contributionpeer-review

Abstract

This paper introduces a new model for 3D graphics compression, recently adopted by MPEG community in the Part 25 of the MPEG-4 standard. The model makes possible to use MPEG-4 compression on top of a third party XML description, facilitating its deployment. Now, the compression and transmission layer, ensured by MPEG-4, is better integrated with the production to consumption chain. The paper reports and analyzes the compression results when using the proposed model.
