Abstract

Colloidal synthesis and functionalisation of luminescent nanoparticles are required for both the use of isolated inorganic particles as biological labels and the elaboration of transparent luminescent materials for integrated optics. Synthesis of ordered arrays of particles by confined growth in mesoporous films could lead in future to the exploitation of collective optical effects in nanosystems.
