Near-field distribution of optical transmission of periodic subwavelength holes in a metal film

Abstract

Numerical modeling of the optical transmission through an array of periodic subwavelength holes was attempted. Enhanced transmission was observed that is a collective effect related to an electromagnetic coupling between holes in an array via surface plasmon polaritons propagating on the periodically structured surface.
