Abstract

In this paper a Non-Uniform Sampling (NUS) technique for controlling Analog-to-Digital Conversion (ADC) in a multistandard Radio receiver is proposed. In this context of wide band radio signals, the NUS-based ADC offers the advantages of relaxing antialiasing filter constraints and decreasing the "mean" of the sampling frequency. This leads to ADC power consumption reduction. The improvement given by this concept is shown through the design of WiMax/WiFi radio receiver where NUS performances are enhanced by choosing the Cubic Spline interpolation for digital reconstruction filter. Simulation results show that designed receiver meets ADC dynamic ranges for WiMax/WiFi with 12-bit quantizer and 8-quantization time factor.
