Abstract

The laser-induced orientation dynamics of LiF in its ground electronic state was discussed. The sudden, intense pulses achieved excellent postpulse orientation. A genetic algorithm dealing with a number of individual laser pulses was used to achieve orientation. The thermal effects were studied with an extension of the control scenario to Boltzmann averaged orientation dynamics.
