Abstract

Several months before the competition, an agreement was contracted between the LNH and the FFV to provide the French yachting team complete information about the tidal currents in the area of the Olympic events. This cooperation led to the realization of a numerical model of this complex zone. The authors introduced in the model all the main channels of the sound, which required more than 10,000 nodes to be correctly reproduced. They defined and computed 3 typical tidal conditions: a spring semi-diurnal tide, a neap semi-diurnal tide and a mixed diurnal semi-diurnal tide which occurs in between.
