Abstract

Metallic grooves of sub-wavelength dimensions behave like Fabry-Perot nano-cavities able to resonantly enhance the electromagnetic field. In this summary, the consequences of positional disorder on the optical behavior of groove ar[1]rays are presented. We show, with a specifically developed simulation tool, that disorder leads to a redistribution of energy compared to the periodic case. By studying arrays of variously shaped grooved, we also show that their optical response can be described by the individual sub-array responses.
