Abstract
We show that the surprising high value of the ratio of the real to the imaginary part of the forward pp amplitude measured recently at the CERN collider, ρ{variant}pp=0.24±0.04, can be well described by the presence of the odderon in the crossing-odd amplitude. Several consequences of our interpretation will be testable at Tevatron energies and beyond.
