Abstract

Baseband building blocks are critical components in radio receivers based on direct conversion architectures. Homodyne receivers can perform digital channel filtering, thus allowing a simple multi-standard channel selection implementation. The drawback of this scheme is the severe ADC requirements on dynamic range and linearity. In spite of this, those requirements can be relaxed by choosing convenient antialiasing filter and automatic gain control specifications. This paper presents a trade-off between baseband blocks complexity applied to GSM. and UMTS standards.
