Abstract
The independent hot-spot (IHS) model results were compared with underlying stochastic amplifier. A linear amplifier was considered for the comparison where there is one hot spot per interaction length. The dependence of the validity of the critical coupling given by the IHS model on the correlation function of the pump field was shown. The IHS model satisfactorily estimated the critical coupling for a wide class of pump-field correlation functions.
