Abstract

The spectral dependencies and near-field distribution of light transmitted through a metal film with periodic holes are discussed. The hole array results in the excitation of surface polaritons and acts as a polaritonic crystal leading to the enhanced transmission at the wavelengths corresponding to the surface polariton Block waves.
