N2 - In this paper, a new ADC architecture using bandpass ΣΔ modulators is proposed. It uses the novel concept of residual signal transfer function (RSTF) and of noise band cancellation to digitize nonlinearly distorted signals such as RF power amplifiers outputs. Mathematical analysis and system simulations show the validity of these concepts. We also present a high level design methodology to optimize the actual peak signal-to-noise and the stability of ΣΔ modulators. We provide the result of extensive simulations to help the design of such a converter.
