Abstract
In this paper, we study the other-cell interference in the downlink of multi-service UMTS. We develop an iterative algorithm aiming to calculate the first and second moments of the other-cell interference when the system is under an admission control algorithm limiting the number of users by the maximal transmission power of the base station. We divide the cell into concentric rings and obtain the other-cell interference under a general traffic load. We show numerically that our algorithm converges to the moments of the other-cell interference, and that our cell decomposition is pertinent.
