Pourquoi partager mes photos de vacances avec des inconnus ?

This article presents an analysis of the uses of the photo sharing site Flickr, carried out in August 2006 and based on an extraction of all the site's accounts. It shows the diversity of uses of this leading Web 2.0 site. One of the original features of Flickr is that users are encouraged to have conversations around the photos that they publicize on the site. Other uses are photo storage and chatting without photos. Finally, the authors show some ways in which the forms of photo exchanging developed on Flickr are also an element of change in amateur aesthetics.
