Abstract

This paper describes an innovative architecture for an internet smartcard. We believe that a communication stack approach, in which a smartcard is used as an usual internet node (running well defined server and client applications) is the best way for adapting smartcards to internet applications. Our experimental smartcard is organized around an XML script parser, which is invoked from an embedded web server. XML scripts have access to all embedded resources, and manage connections to remote internet servers.
