Abstract
This work presents design considerations, simulations, and the experimental validation of a proof-of-concept fully PCB-based, spatially segmented charge collector for transverse phase-space measurements. The objective is to assess the feasibility of an electronic detection chain as an alternative to conventional optical pepper-pot systems for four-dimensional (4D) transverse emittance measurements of low-energy proton beams below 50 keV. The proof-of-concept subsystem integrates a pad-matrix detector, a 32-channel transimpedance amplifier, a vacuum-compatible feedthrough, and an Arduino-based acquisition chain, enabling direct current collection on individual pads. The electronic chain is evaluated in terms of linearity, stability, and operation under vacuum and beam conditions.
