Abstract

The charged particle distributions dN_ch/dη have been measured by the NA50 experiment in Pb-Pb collisions at the CERN SPS. Measurements have been done at incident energies of 158 and 40 GeV per nucleon over a broad impact parameter range. Results obtained with two independent centrality estimators, namely the neutral transverse energy E_T and the forward energy E_ZDC, are reported.
