The renewal of waste management processes and, more broadly, the management of unsuitable or broken objects is a major challenge for future environmental policies, in order to limit the consumption of resources and energy and environmental impacts. More and more local initiatives and public policies promote the repair and upcycling of objects. However, this will does not necessarily meet with the expected success. Though a double case study, we noticed that Repair/reuse does is not considered as a public intervention issue in which local authorities clearly define their field of intervention. Because they associate repair with an alternative waste management practice, local authorities leave its practices outside their sphere of action.
