Abstract
Radars are the only device providing rainfall measurements in both space and time. The conversion between the observed radar quantities (reflectivity at both polarizations, differential phases⋯) and the rain rate in which hydro-meteorologists are interested still remains an open issue. In this paper we investigate the potential effect of constructive or destructive interference between the waves backscattered by each individual hydrometeors, through a numerical experiment: 50 × 50 × 50 m3 volume with all its drops is simulated along with its radar observations.
