N2 - We have used kHz single cycle laser pulses in order to resonantly drive a plasma wakefield, resulting in the acceleration of relativistic electron beams with 5 MeV energies and > 20 pC/shot charges. Simulations indicate that the electron bunch duration can be as short as 1 femtosecond, making this source unique for probing structural dynamics on ultrafast time scales.
