Abstract

The E866 experimental setup has been upgraded by addition of a forward spectrometer to handle the large multiplicities in central Au+Au collisions at AGS. Furthermore, new global detectors have been added to gain insight into the reaction dynamics and enable studies of flow effects. The report presents preliminary rapidity distributions for protons and produced mesons in central collisions. The shape of mt-spectra of pions is discussed. Examples of the measurements which can be done with a new multiplicity array are presented.
