Abstract
The phenomenon of miscibility between disk- and lathlike mesogens was investigated. It was analyzed that there is a full miscibility between the disk- and lathlike mesogens used for mixtures comprising at least 60 mol % of tetra-alkyloxy-phthalocyanine. The differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), polarized optical microscopy (POM) and X-ray diffraction analysis shows that no phase seperation occurs and the blend is thermodynamically stable. The results show that the covalent linkage is not necessary to prevent phase separation between two structurally different molecules.
