Reverse relative Goos-Hänchen effect

Abstract

A reverse Goos-Hänchen displacement between TE and TM polarizations is predicted and experimentally isolated. The necessary reversal of the evolution of the difference between the phase retardances for the TE and TM reflections vs. the angle of incidence is obtained thanks to a Fabry-Perot-like structure. The experimental measurements are in good agreement with numerical calculations that take fully into account the Gaussian nature of the light beam.
