Abstract

An optical-field-ionization soft X-ray laser is saturately amplified. A circularly polarized 330-mJ, 35-fs, 10-Hz Ti:sapphire laser system is used to produce the amplifying medium in a few-mm cell filled with xenon. Pumping energy and laser polarization effects on the lasing output are studied.
