Abstract

In order to demonstrate the safe behavior of advanced reactors of fourth generation in case of severe accident, thanks to the efficiency of the prevention and mitigation features, and more generally to ensure a robust safety demonstration, accidental scenario simulations are performed during the design phase. This chapter is dedicated to the description of the mechanistic and fast-running tools used for severe accident and mitigation studies.
