Abstract
The shift in the P and R branch lines of the fundamental band of CO perturbed by He and Ar was experimentally measured. These measurements were compared to measurements of the broadening coefficients with full close coupled quantal calculations. It was shown that a decomposition of the shifts into components even and odd in the line number is beneficial to unraveling the contributions to the shifts of different parts of the interaction.
