Abstract
An alternative approach is proposed in order to build a formal slender-body theory valid up to high orders with respect to the slenderness ratio and for a nonlifting body which is not necessary of revolution. The basic idea consists of asymptotically expanding and inverting the Fredholm integral equation of the second kind bearing on an unknown source distribution one may spread over the boundary of the body.
