Abstract
The numerical resolution of the time-dependent Gross-Pitaevskii equation, a nonlinear Schrödinger equation used to simulate the dynamics of Bose-Einstein condensates, was studied. Considering condensates trapped in harmonic potentials, an efficient algorithm was presented by making use of spectral-Galerkin method. The algorithm was applied to the simulation of condensate breathing and scissor modes.
