Abstract

The stability of the interface of a viscous incompressible fluid in an oscillating gravitational field was studied. The dispersion relation for the viscous case represent an infinite determinant of the Hill type. The whole dispersion curve of the instability and its asymptotics in an explicit form were derived. The stabilizing effect of the extremely imposed oscillations resulted to the appearance of stability windows on the growth rate spectrum.
