Abstract
Stable, nominally brittle cracks were slowly driven in artificial rocks under tension and the statistical organization of the so produced acoustic events was characterized. Scale-free distribution for energy and inter-event time were found, together with a self-organization of the events into mainshock-aftershock sequences obeying the common seismic laws ruling earthquakes. Some specific features emerges in this simpler fracturing situation, and, as will be shown in the presentation, constraint the above laws and their interrelations.
