Sulfur Betaines from S-Propargyl XanthatesUnusual Chemistry from a Simple Functional Group

Abstract

S-Propargyl xanthates undergo upon heating a [3,3] sigmatropic rearrangement followed by a reversible ring closure into a novel betaine.
