Abstract
The millimeter wave radiation and coherent terahertz from laser accelerated electron bunches were examined. The bunches were produced by tightly focusing a high peak power, ultra-shot laser pulse from a high rate laser system onto a high density pulsed gas jet. It was found that, as the electron exit the plasma, coherent transition radiation was generated at the plasma-vacuum boundary for wavelength compared to the bunch length. The results show that the optimization of the table top source provide more than 100 μJ/pulse.
