Abstract
The 100 joules nanosecond pulses, kW averaged power, based on ytterbium diode pumped solid state laser were analyzed. The preamplifier and amplifier stages were longitudinally pumped at 10 Hz from both side with a 10 kW/cm2 intensity with 1.1 ms pulses. The LUCIA laser system keeps the potential to replace YAG by glass as a host medium, allowing this laser system to be operated either directly in the ultrashort pulse duration domain or in nanosecond regime.
