Abstract

This work aims in developing an operational methodology in combining the mesoscale (ALADIN) and microscale (CFD) model to predict the flow pattern used for micrositing and to reduce the uncertainty in the Annual Energy Production (AEP) in complex terrain. Different coupling methods are implemented to impose the mesoscale data on microscale grid for a complex site located in Southern France. Comparison between wind profiles of CFD prediction and field measurements showed good agreement for Cressman interpolation method. In addition, sensitivity study was conducted for grid independence and Cressman horizontal and vertical radius of influence of mesoscale wind profiles.
