Abstract

In this paper, potential traffic policies are investigated to handle efficiently the bursty nature of data applications as envisaged in General Packet Radio Service (GPRS), a new packet oriented data service for GSM networks. The study is conducted to assess the uplink capacity of the GPRS system which is optimized for various system parameters. Different performance measures such as blocking, frame delay, system throughput and frame loss probability are evaluated.
