Abstract

A technique for the generation of an inhomogeneous pulse is proposed to demonstrate the efficient pumping of a Ni-like Ag X-ray laser with a 0.3 ps pulse. The technique is validated on a LULI 100 TW laser chain. Results show that the presence of traveling wave irradiation is essential in extracting X-ray laser photons from the plasma.
