Abstract

Radical addition of S-trifluoroacetonyl O-neopentyl dithiocarbonate 1c across an alkene occurs smoothly in the presence of a small amount of dilauroyl peroxide as initiator to give variously functionalised trifluoromethyl ketones in good yields.
