Abstract
Results of two dimensional modelling of Plasma Opening Switch (POS) in the frame of Magneto HydroDynamics (MHD) with Hall effect are presented for two cases: 1) assuming development of ion-sound instability in the plasma of erosion gap and 2) assuming that there is no instabilities in the plasma. Based on experimental and simulation results, analytical formulae are derived for: a) the resistance of POS, b) the time of upstream current rising in the load and c) the value of the voltage drop in the POS.
