Ultrafast conformational changes in hemoproteins studied by time-resolved circular dichroism

Abstract

Photodissociation of carboxy-myoglobin and -hemoglobin is studied by time-resolved circular dichroism spectroscopy in the Soret band. The conformational reorganization of the heme pocket is shown to occur on a very short timescale (< 100ps).
