Abstract
The authors have observed ultrafast establishment of in-well screening in a MQW structure consisting of 40 101-angstrom CdTe quantum wells separated by 950-angstrom Cd1-xMnxTe (x = 17.5%) barriers. Pump-probe transmission experiments were performed at 15 K with use of a colliding-pulse modelocked laser amplified at 6.5 kHz with a copper vapor laser. After spectral-continuum generation, the pulses are filtered spectrally and amplified to give pump pulses centered at 1.614 eV of approximate FWHM 200 fs.
