Abstract
In this article, we show that Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) is well fitted for exploring complex phenomena. We focus here on the supposed correlation between the organisation of services in Air Traffic Management, and the trend towards commercialisation of the suppliers of these services. A simple statistical analysis (regression) seems to confirm this correlation, which is suggested by the European Commission. However, if we use QCA on the same data, we can go beyond this general trend and can show that a large diversity of different models are possible. QCA also proves that simple laws explaining the result do not exist.
