Abstract

This paper presents a new wideband demodulator using a five-port reflectometer and a diode mixer for UWB channel sounding application. The demodulator benefits from the five-port qualities which allow it a broadband behaviour and a low cost circuit. This system operates in 6 to 8.5 GHz frequency range for European UWB applications. The main parameters are a local oscillator signal power and bias voltage set to 6 dBm and 0.22 V, respectively. The mixer achieves good performance with conversion losses estimated to 10 dB at 7 GHz.
