title = "X-ray emission from subpicosecond laser-generated homogeneous plasmas",
abstract = "X-ray spectral emissions from aluminum, selenium and samarium foils irradiated with a 100-TW, 300-fs laser at 0.53-μm wavelength have been resolved temporally. Axial and lateral plasma gradients were limited by using thin foils (300 to 800-{\AA}) deposited on a 50-μm gold pinhole. Emission durations of a few picoseconds have been measured. 1-D hydrodynamic simulations coupled to a statistical non-LTE collisional-radiative model based on superconfigurations has been used to simulate the X-ray emission of aluminum and selenium. The main features of the experimental time-resolved spectra obtained for homogeneous conditions (pinhole targets) are well reproduced.",
