Abstract

We review some recent experiments that we have performed at the LOA on femtosecond laser-matter interaction with aluminum and silicon targets. Reflection and scattering of the incident laser and time-resolved Schileren images have been correlated with x-ray diode measurements as a function of the ASE pedestal fluence. X-ray spectroscopy has been used to measure the plasma parameters. Hot electron target heating has been studied. Supra-kilovolt x-rays probed by a 2 ps resolution streak camera exhibit a sub-picosecond resolution-limited pulse duration.
