N2 - In this final chapter, the rudiments of the background-field method at finite temperature are revisited and an alternative formulation is put forward. After explaining the rationale for this novel proposal and reviewing its various advantages, it is implemented within the Curci-Ferrari model. This chapter is also the opportunity to revisit and solve some of the difficulties reviewed in the first chapters from a different perspective.
