Résumé

This work is about making catalytic filter media made of alumina microfibers augmented with electrospun alumina nanofibers. The alumina nanofibers are doped with palladium oxide. Nanofibers are known to improve performance microfiber filters to capture submicron particles. The nanofibers containing catalyst particles is expected to show good catalytic performance because of high surface-area for catalytic activity. These nanofibers with catalyst have a dual function to serve as a filter media for air filtration combined with catalytic conversion of chemical species. Porosity, permeability and surface morphology of filter media with and without palladium oxide particle doped nanofibers were measured using a pycnometer, Frazier Air Permeability tester, and by electron microscopy. Chemical compositions were measured using X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy.
