Résumé

A pure tone phenomenon has been observed in a PWR line. The source has been identified to be generated in a valve and to be of cavity noise type. In this paper, two 2D Euler computations are presented: The first one concerns the configuration that was used for experiments on a scale model (air flow) in order to compare with the on site observations (steam flow) and the second one concerns a modified geometry that was also used experimentally in order to search for a solution. Both experimental and numerical results show that the tested solution (a 15° chamfer at the upstream corner of the cavity) gives a decrease of the oscillation amplitude.
