Résumé
The role of acoustic plasmons was studied by measuring the relaxation in the presence of hot or cold equilibrium carriers injected by a pre-pump in a 0.65-μm GaAs layer. A non-degenerate pump-probe configuration was used that allows to follow selectively the thermalization of the nonequilibrium electron distribution. The setup consists of a Ti:sapphire mode-locked oscillator and a 200-kHz regenerative amplifier followed by an optical parametric amplifier.
